The Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine is an accelerated three-year program. Upon completing the MD program, graduates must undertake postgraduate medical training (residency) to practice independently. This involves certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (minimum two additional years) or a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada program (minimum four additional years). Pathways to Medicine (P2M) Scholarship (CAD 5,000) - Promising high school graduates from low socioeconomic backgrounds, with a particular interest in rural and Indigenous students. Alberta resident, graduating from an Alberta high school. Tuition coverage: $5,000 per year for a maximum of four years. Includes MCAT support, mentorship, enrichment program, and acceptance into CSM upon meeting pre-defined criteria.; Cumming School of Medicine Bursaries (CAD 2,500) - Based on financial need. Ranging from $400-$8,000.; Cumming School of Medicine Special Bursaries - For exceptional, unanticipated financial hardship that puts students at serious risk of withdrawing from the MD program.
