  • The program starts in the fall semester. Application deadlines are usually in December of the previous year. Spring admission is generally not offered for the MS program.
  • Graduates often work in aerospace, robotics, automotive, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, research labs, and technology firms. Many MS graduates continue into Berkeley’s or other universities’ PhD programs.
  • Yes. Berkeley ME offers flexibility to pursue robotics, mechatronics, energy sciences, computational mechanics, or bioengineering. Students may also take courses from Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Bioengineering for interdisciplinary training.
  • Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field such as aerospace engineering, civil engineering, or materials science. Strong skills in mathematics, physics, and programming are expected.
