Overview
The Niels Bohr Institute invites applicants for a PhD fellowship in Dynamical Systems Theory and Climate Modelling within a Villum Synergy Grant between the Niels Bohr Institute and Institute of Mathematics at the University of Copenhagen. The project aims to enhance the understanding and prediction of climate tipping points, with a specific focus on the potential collapse of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). The project will integrate physics-based climate models, data analysis, and advanced statistical methods to bridge discrepancies between theoretical predictions, observational data, and climate model outputs. Start date is flexible between 1 May and 1, 2026. The group is embedded in the Physics of Ice, Climate and Earth (PICE) group at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, located in Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
