The Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Program (NQCP) at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, seeks a PhD candidate to join an experimental research team in Copenhagen, Denmark. The programme focuses on building a full-stack approach to quantum computing, from quantum processors to quantum-classical interfaces, quantum algorithms and applications, with the vision to enable fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve important problems in the life-sciences. Possible projects include: Scalable Superconducting Qubit Systems, Hybrid Quantum Systems, and Broadband Quantum-Limited Amplifiers. The successful candidate will explore packaging solutions for superconducting quantum circuits, including scalable 3D-integrated I/O interfaces, co-integration of magnetic crystals with superconducting circuits, and flip-chip architectures for electromechanical quantum devices. The PhD project will be supervised and managed day-to-day by Assistant Professor Shingo Kono, with additional advisory support from Associate Professor Morten Kjaergaard. Location: The Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark. Earliest expected start date: 1 June 2026.
