FAQs
- Admission is competitive. Even meeting minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission. Applicants are evaluated based on academic merit, course relevance, statement of purpose, references, and, where applicable, professional or related experience.
- Applicants are expected to have at least a 2:1 honours degree (or international equivalent) in law, finance, accounting, business studies or related fields. Strong academic records help, though relevant work experience or professional qualifications can strengthen an application.
- Students write a 10,000-word dissertation, usually in the summer after completing the taught courses. They are assigned a supervisor who guides the research. The dissertation topic is often related to one of the subjects taken during the coursework.
- The programme is one year of full-time study. It consists of 180 credits: taught courses worth 120 credits and a dissertation worth 60 credits.
- The programme aims to provide advanced, specialised learning in banking and finance law and practice. It prepares students for work in global financial markets, financial services regulation, corporate finance, banking regulation, and emerging fields such as FinTech.
