Overview

Electrosynbionics involves the use of biological parts to create devices that generate electricity, such as biological photovoltaics and biobatteries. Biosensing involves detection of biological targets, often for diagnosing or monitoring disease. The project will begin with a literature review and technoeconomic analysis of biomimetic membranes, followed by the design and testing of complex membrane structures. The student will receive training in wet lab techniques and advanced characterisation methods.
