- The main entry point is in September, though January and April start dates may also be available. Deadlines vary depending on funding, with most major scholarship competitions closing between January and March for the following academic year.

- The Department offers supervision across a wide range of areas including medieval literature, early modern studies, Romanticism, Victorian literature and culture, modernism, contemporary writing, American literature, postcolonial and world literatures, film and visual culture, creative writing, children’s literature, performance, environmental humanities, medical humanities, gender and sexuality studies, and digital humanities.
- The full-time PhD normally takes 3–4 years, while the part-time pathway takes 5–7 years. An MPhil usually takes 2 years full-time or 4 years part-time.
