- Assessment is by submission of a thesis (up to 100,000 words) and a viva voce examination.
- How long does the PhD take to complete?
- You will take a Legal Research Methods module to develop your research skills and may also take LLM modules. You’ll receive regular meetings with your supervisors and have opportunities to participate in seminars, reading groups, and collaborative research activities.
- The School of Law offers supervision in most legal subject areas and interdisciplinary projects with a legal aspect. Research excellence is promoted across a diverse range of legal scholarship and methodologies.
- You need an LLM or a master’s degree in a relevant discipline, with a taught and dissertation average of 65% or above, plus a 2:1 (or international equivalent) in your undergraduate studies.
- The PhD in Law is a research-focused degree where you complete a written thesis of up to 100,000 words, supported by two academic supervisors. You must also pass a viva voce (oral examination) where you explain and defend your research to an examination panel.
