Overview

This PhD studentship is based within the Advanced Manufacturing Technology research group at the University of Nottingham, with access to the Omnifactory facility./nThe project focuses on breaking design silos in aircraft wing design by developing simulation models, data models and algorithms to enable connected cross-disciplinary design and optimisation across structural, aeroelastic and manufacturing domains. /nThe project will use artificial intelligence tools including large language models, knowledge graphs, data-mining methods and embedding techniques to capture semantic relationships and support integrated engineering workflows. /nCandidates will work with staff and students from the Advanced Manufacturing Technology research group and the Faculty of Engineering and will have access to software packages, advanced robotics, manufacturing, assembly, and inspection facilities. /nPhD start date: October 2026.
