PhD in Characterisation

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) are layered semiconductors with tunable bandgaps. This project involves preparation of new precursors for depositing TMDC thin films and focuses on creating metal complexes as precursors for deposition of TMDCs via chemical vapour deposition and electrodeposition./nYou'll develop experience and skills in coordination chemistry, materials deposition, and structural, compositional and functional characterisation techniques associated with molecular complexes and semiconductor materials./nThe project is aligned with the EXPRESS programme (Exploiting Single Source Precursors for the Electrochemical Growth of Functional 1D and 2D Metal Dichalcogenide Semiconductors)./nLocation: School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Southampton, Southampton, United Kingdom.
