Overview

PhD studentship at the University of Surrey funded by the British Skin Foundation to study antiviral responses that block herpes simplex virus (HSV1 and HSV2) infection of human skin./nThe project focuses on infection of keratinocytes and use of differentiated stratified 3D-skin models to investigate how keratinocytes sense HSV infection, the antiviral proteins produced, and host response pathways that control HSV infection with potential for future treatment development./nTechniques trainees will become skilled in include quantitative real-time PCR, siRNA depletion, and advanced bioimaging (confocal, high throughput and live-cell)./nThe successful applicant will join the Section of Virology at the University of Surrey. Supervisors: Professor Gill Elliott and Dr Lindsay Broadbent./nLocation: Guildford.
