PhD in Cancer Biology

This is a 3.5-year PhD studentship funded by the School of Life Sciences and Diamond Light Source, starting on 1st October 2026 under the supervision of Prof Mancini and Prof Spencer at the School of Life Sciences and Dr Rohanah Hussain at Diamond Light Source./nThe project focuses on integrating high-throughput biophysics and structural biology for drug discovery, elucidating structures of regulatory proteins (including kinases), developing a platform combining Synchrotron Radiation Circular Dichroism (SRCD) with XCHEM fragment screening, and integrating these methods with X-ray Crystallography, Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) and BioSAXS. The studentship includes spending approximately 50% of the time at the national synchrotron facility and is embedded within the Sussex Drug Discovery Centre and Diamond Light Source.
