Overview

The project will perform numerical analysis and modelling aimed at the optimisation and development of effective friction dampers for critical structures, specifically bladed disks in gas-turbine engines./nThe research will apply advanced large-scale finite element models of structures together with already developed models and methods for the calculation of vibrations, allowing for strongly nonlinear interactions at friction contact interfaces./nLocation: Falmer, Hybrid./nThe PhD Engineering studentship will be performed under the supervision of Dr Evgeny Petrov./nFunding includes a tax-free stipend and a fee waiver for 3.5 years and a Research and Training Support Grant of £2,000.
