- GRE scores are not required for admissions. All applicants must submit an online application through the UW Graduate School and pay the application fee. The application for Autumn 2025 admission opens September 1, 2025, and the deadline is December 1, 2025.
- Most students complete the program in about 5–6 years, depending on their area of specialization and research progress
- The program is flexible and research-oriented, designed to prepare students for careers in research and scholarship. Students engage in research from the outset and can tailor their studies to their interests within the program’s specializations.
- The PhD program offers training in several areas: Animal Behavior, Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical Psychology, Child Clinical Psychology, Cognition and Perception, Developmental, Social and Personality, and Quantitative Psychology. There are also options for advanced data science.
- No, the PhD program does not admit students whose goal is a terminal master’s degree. However, students may earn an MS in Psychology on their way to the PhD. For those interested in a master’s-only degree, the department offers an MA in Applied Child & Adolescent Psychology: Prevention & Treatment
