The Department of Earth Sciences at Utrecht University is offering a PhD position on 'The coupled soil carbon-nitrogen-phosphorus cycles and their response to human activities and climate change'./nLocation: Utrecht Science Park, Utrecht, Netherlands./nThe project involves developing a global spatially explicit, integrated, mechanistic, coupled soil biogeochemistry model (building on IMAGE-DGNM), collecting and synthesizing field and remote-sensing-based observation databases and reported coupled kinetics, constructing and validating the model, quantifying spatiotemporal changes in global soil coupled C-N-P cycling from the pre-industrial era to the present, assessing influences of climate change and human activities, and projecting future changes under different scenarios. A personalised training programme (about 20% of time) and assistance in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes are included.
