PhD position at Utrecht University, Faculty of Geosciences, Department of Earth Sciences in Utrecht, Netherlands./nProject: Benthic microalgae and blue carbon: Investigating the role of microphytobenthos in the retention of seagrass-derived organic matter./nFocus on carbon burial and cycling in seagrass sediments, role of microphytobenthos (MPB) in facilitating retention and transformation of seagrass-exuded dissolved (DOM) and particulate organic matter (POM) into mineral-associated organic matter (MAOM)./nPosition details: 1.0 FTE for 1 year, with an extension to a total of four years upon a successful assessment in the first year; working week 36 - 40 hours; gross monthly salary between € 3.059 and €3.881 in the case of full-time employment (salary scale P under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU)); 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus; a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU.
