- All admitted PhD students receive full funding for up to 6 years. This includes a full tuition waiver, a competitive annual stipend, health insurance, and support for conference travel and research. Funding is provided through fellowships, teaching assistantships, and research assistantships.
- Applicants should have a strong academic background in English or a related discipline. Required materials include a statement of purpose, a sample of academic writing (15–20 pages), three letters of recommendation, and academic transcripts. GRE scores are not required.
- Research areas include medieval and Renaissance literature, eighteenth-century studies, Romanticism, Victorian studies, modernist literature, contemporary literature, American literature from colonial to present, African American literature, Caribbean and transatlantic studies, global Anglophone literatures, postcolonial studies, gender and sexuality studies, critical theory, rhetoric and composition, digital humanities, poetry and poetics, and environmental humanities.
- The PhD normally takes 5–6 years of full-time study.
