PhD in Medical Microbiology

The Wang Lab in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech is seeking motivated candidates for a fully funded Ph.D. position in Medical Microbiology, starting in Fall 2026. The lab investigates the pathogenesis of Staphylococcus aureus, with a particular focus on extracellular membrane vesicles produced by both bacteria and host cells, and aims to elucidate how these vesicles mediate interactions between S. aureus and host cells during infection.
