PhD in Water Management

PhD candidate position at the Hydrology and Environmental Hydraulics Group at Wageningen University & Research to develop novel tailored flood prediction models that directly take into account different flood types and their generating processes. Based within the NWO-funded VIDI project “FutureFlood - Future-proof flood prediction”./nThe position is full time, fully funded, with an initial temporary contract for 18 months and the intention for extension to up to four years. The PhD candidate will compare hydrological models such as HBV, WALRUS and LISFLOOD for case study regions, analyse model components and set up new model versions tailored to specific flood types with type-specific parametrisation. Models will be compared to benchmark models, tested under different climate change scenarios, and applied to estimate design flood events for different return periods and flood types. The developed framework will be included in a flood prediction model within the VIDI project. Location: Wageningen, Netherlands.
