Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students (JASSO Scholarship) is available to all international students, enrolling in a Bachelor, Master's, or Phd course, within the university.

Eligibility Criteria
Qualification criteria for the JASSO scholarship
The applicant must not be receiving a scholarship that cannot be combined with other scholarships.
The applicant must have “Student” status when entering Japan.
The allowance sent from applicant’s private funding source may not exceed, on average, 90,000 yen per month.
The annual income of applicant’s supporter residing in Japan (if you have one) may not exceed 5,000,000 yen.
Applicant’s Japanese or English ability must be over the following level.
Japanese JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test)
Level 1 or 2, EJU Over 200 in Japanese subjects
English Over B2 level in CEFR
(For example, TOEFL iBT over72, IELTS over 5.5, TOEIC L&R over 785)
Benefits and Financial Coverage
The monthly stipend for the following academic year is JPY 48,000 for graduates as well as undergraduates. The amount may change from one academic year to another. The scholarship is provided on a monthly basis.
How to Apply
Overseas applicants who enroll at Tokyo Tech have the chance to apply for the "Reservation Program for Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students by Pre-arrival Admission*1 " from the Japan Student Services Organization ("JASSO").
In addition to the “Qualification Criteria for the JASSO scholarship” mentioned above, applicants must be living overseas (not in Japan) when applying for GSEP or IGP.
