Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in International Business at the University of Canterbury equips students with the essential skills to navigate and succeed in a globalized, multicultural economic landscape. The curriculum delves into activities and transactions that transcend national borders, focusing on decision-making and management within diverse cultural contexts. Students will explore how firms strategically configure their operations to achieve owner objectives in an evolving environment, analyze the strategic and cross-cultural dimensions of international marketing, understand the foreign exchange market, currency risk, and hedging, and examine the welfare effects of international trade and trade policies. The program also encourages students to engage with a foreign language and/or culture, offering the valuable opportunity to spend a semester studying at an overseas partner university.

UC International First Year Scholarship (Offshore) - Recognizes and supports top-achieving international students who completed their university-entrance qualification overseas or via UC International College (UCIC) and will commence an undergraduate degree.; UC Engineering International Scholarship (Offshore) (NZD 15,000) - For international students studying towards an undergraduate Engineering degree, valued towards tuition fees.; University of Canterbury India High Achievers Scholarship (NZD 5,000) - For international students from India with strong academic abilities, paid in the first year of study.; University of Canterbury Southeast Asia High Achievers Scholarship (NZD 5,000) - For international students from Southeast Asia with strong academic abilities, paid in the first year of study.; UC International College Student Scholarship 2026 (Global Student Awards) - All students meeting academic entry requirements for a UCIC program for June and October 2026 intake automatically receive an award equivalent to 10% of their tuition fees.; UC Dean's Award (NZD 4,000) - Recognizes academic excellence for students progressing from UCIC to the University of Canterbury, for undergraduate pathway students who complete their program with a B+ average.; UC High Achievers Scholarships - Recognizes and supports new international students with strong academic abilities from China, Hong Kong, India, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam.; UC Deans Award - Recognizes full-fee paying international students with high potential who are beginning their undergraduate or postgraduate studies at UC.; Tan Sri Datuk Oh Siew Nam P.S.M, P.J.N. Scholarship (NZD 20,000) - For Malaysian citizens with strong academic achievement enrolling full-time in an undergraduate program, valued at up to NZ$20,000.
