Merit-based and Activity Scholarships (Non-resident First-Year Students) - Non-resident first-year students are automatically considered based on their application for admission; no separate application is needed.; Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Scholarships - Available to select students from participating western states.; International Achievement Award (IAA) (USD 6,000) - A four-year merit scholarship for new international students, ranging from $2,000 to $6,000 annually, up to $10,000 per year. Selection is based on the admission application, including essay, secondary school transcripts, cumulative GPA, English proficiency, and submission by the priority deadline. Requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 for annual renewal. Available only to students who apply using Western's unique application for admission.; Departmental Scholarships (WWU Scholarship Portal) (USD 1,250) - Students complete one application to be matched to eligible scholarships, including those from the Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Department. Award amounts vary, averaging $500-$2000. The WWU Scholarship Portal for AY 2026-2027 officially opens on March 13, 2026.; Eunice D.
