Overview

The Bachelor of Design (BDes) in Advertising program at OCAD University, offered through the Faculty of Design, provides a comprehensive education blending creative, strategic, and technical skills. The program emphasizes practical experience, encouraging students to explore various advertising mediums and integrating design principles, consumer behavior, and marketing strategy. Students progress from foundational art and design classes and introductory advertising courses in their first year, to advanced strategy, digital design, typography, and photography in their second year. The fourth year culminates in intensive boot camps where students work with real clients on campaigns, alongside developing their thesis project and showcasing work at OCAD U's GradEx.

Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships and Awards (CAD 2,750) - New, full-time, first-entry undergraduate students enrolling in the first year. Automatically considered based on a strong portfolio/supplemental items and good academics. Range from $500 to $5000.; In-study Scholarships, Prizes and Awards (CAD 2,050) - For overall academic achievement at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year levels. Range from $100-$4000.; Government Loans (OSAP) - Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) provides financial aid.; Bursaries - Non-repayable awards given primarily based on financial need. Emergency bursaries available for one-time, short-term assistance.; Bursaries for Students with Disabilities - Ontario Bursary for Students with Disabilities (BSWD) and Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment â€“ Students with Disabilities (CSG-DSE) for eligible students with disability-related services and equipment.; US Student Loans (Sallie Mae) - OCAD U has obtained eligibility for US students to secure private student loans through Sallie Mae only.; International Student Scholarships - International students can apply for entrance scholarships that recognize artistic excellence and academic achievement.
