Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies at St. Francis Xavier University is an interdisciplinary program that explores diverse religious traditions and cultures. This program examines the relationship between religion, the individual, and society, covering a wide range of traditions and cultures from ancient to contemporary times. Students are encouraged to become familiar with primary texts (in translation) of various religions. As a first-year student, you will study indigenous traditions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and contemporary religious movements, including courses like RELS 103 World Religions and RELS 104 Introduction to Religious Studies. Upper-level courses delve into specialized topics such as Yoga, Religion and Popular Culture, Ethics in World Religions, Death and Dying, Hinduism & Buddhism, and Celtic Christianity.

Entrance Scholarship (CAD 5,000) - Applicants with a final average of 85% or higher. No separate scholarship application is required.; Major Scholarships (CAD 45,000) - Academically exceptional students with demonstrated leadership abilities. Applicants must apply to StFX and submit their first-semester Grade 12 transcript by the deadline.; Transfer Scholarship (CAD 2,000) - One-time, non-renewable scholarship for students transferring full-time to StFX with a minimum 80% average.
