Overview

The Metal Fabrication Technician program at Sault College is a two-year (four-semester) Ontario College Diploma program that provides comprehensive training in fundamental fabricating and welding techniques. Students will learn to safely and effectively lay out and build parts for large projects like bridges, buildings, towers, and platforms, as well as construct and repair steel stairs, boilers, tanks, chutes, hoppers, and other steel structures. The curriculum covers various welding processes, metal-cutting techniques, blueprint interpretation, drawing development, project planning, and the use of computer numerically-controlled (CNC) equipment. The first year focuses on welding, while the second year delves into building metal structures.
